City Council Meeting · Meeting of June 8, 2026

EVERETT — The Everett City Council voted 7-3 to ordain new restrictions on data centers in the Docklands Innovation District. The ordinance, sponsored by Councilor Katy L. Rogers with Vivian Nguyen and Stephanie Martins, caps new facilities at 20,000 square feet or 5 kilowatts and requires one job in Everett for every 500 square feet, Chief Development Officer Monica Lamboy told the council. Councilor Peter Pietrantonio warned that subdividing the roughly 100-acre Davis Companies site could still yield multiple data centers, saying "you scare me when you say we leave it up to the planning board." The council also seated John Hanlon in the at-large seat vacated by Wayne A. Matewsky, confirmed Firefighter Christopher Grace's promotion to lieutenant, and approved a $312,195,648 fiscal 2027 general fund budget 8-1, with Councilor Guerline Alcy Jabouin dissenting on all three contested votes.
